Mr. Hanna holds a M.ED. degree in educational administration from Kent State University, USA, and teaching certification in earth science, German and special education. Raised in international settings and after having completed higher education in the United States, he taught in Ohio prior to returning overseas to accept teaching and administrative positions. Involved also in the school accreditation process with various state accrediting agencies, he has served as head of school in Germany, Taiwan and most recently Turkey, prior to coming to Denmark.
Kathryn has a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Bath University in the UK. She is a musician and a UK qualified Performing Arts teacher. She has experience as an MYP Performing Arts teacher in China and the UK and has performed here in Aarhus with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra and BaroqueAros. At AAGE she teachers music in MYP as well as being the MYP Coordinator and Head of Middle School Principal responsible for the academic and social well-being of all the MYP students. In addition Kathryn also works for the IBO, as a school visitor, workshop leader and MYP examiner.
Megan is an educated primary school teacher who joined AAGE in 2013 after moving to Denmark from the United States of America. Megan has been a classroom teacher at AAGE in both PYP4 and PYP5, and she has taught Danish C. She also holds a Master's Degree in school counselling and has experience working with students of all ages. Megan has served as AAGE's part-time School Counsellor since the 2014-2015 school year and has been working with all stakeholders to better support students in their academic, career, personal/social and global perspective development. Megan also serves as the PYP Coordinator, helping to develop curriculum and helping teachers strengthen their knowledge and skills to ensure that the programme is implmented according to IB standards and practices.
Margaret is Irish and has a Bachelor of Education degree from Trinity College Dublin and holds a certificate for teaching ESL (English as a Second Language). She has over 27 years teaching experience in Ireland, Australia and Denmark. Margaret has been a classroom teacher at AAGE since 2014 and currently teaches some lessons in PYP 6B while the remainder of the time she has administrative duties in PYP. In her spare time Margaret enjoys travelling, reading and renovating her family’s old farmhouse.
Charlotte has a Master's degree in clinical counselling from Johns Hopkins University, USA and a teaching degree from DK. After 16 years in Washington DC, she returned to DK in 2012. With 25+ years of experience within the fields of Education, Counselling/Therapy, Special Education, Program Development and Project Development, she will support and help develop the AAGE School Counselling Department to ensure that all AAGE students learn, thrive and grow.
Henny Bak, the administrative assistant at AAGE’s main office at the Dalgas campus, joined the school in August 2016. Henny has served as a school secretary within the Danish public school system and brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge. Happy to be a grandmother, she also enjoys being around the students and helping them in times of need.
Vanessa is originally from Perth, Australia. She has a Bachelor of Social Sciences (History), Master of Teaching (Primary) and Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching. She has taught students (4-12 years of age) in primary schools in Australia. Vanessa teaches and 3-4 year old children in PYP 2b, covering literacy, maths, our unit of inquiry and many other fun activities at page's kindergarten.
Sander is from The Netherlands and has been at the school since August 2013. He has a degree as a 'social cultural worker' and has experience with many different target groups in both Denmark and other foreign countries (Spain & The Netherlands). He is supporting the classroom teacher of PYP1 and helps the children in their education.
Jessica is originally from Berlin, Germany. She studied Early Childhood Education in Kiel, Germany and started working for AAGE in January 2015. Previous to working at AAGE, Jessica has worked in the Early Years program in the USA and in Germany. Currently Jessica is in the position of Teaching Assistant in the PYP 2A Bumblebee class and really enjoys her role. Jessica has a passion for travel and culture and feels that working for AAGE which offers an international environment enables her to experience and learn from children and parents coming from all over the world.
Claudia is originally from Mexico City and when she got married she moved with his husband to Toronto, Canada where she studied EarlyChildhood Education. After collecting Early Years teaching experiences in Canada, Germany and Australia in kindergartens, hospitals and libraries, she moved to Denmark in August 2016 with her three boys due to her husband’s job . In June 2018 she startedworking at AAGE. Claudia is currently working as a Homeroom Teacher in PYP1/2 as a maternity leave cover.
In her spare time, Claudia enjoys travelling, cooking and being with his family.
Elizabeth is originally from Kent in England but moved to Denmark in 2014, she lives in Aarhus with her Danish husband and their son Jaxson. She has been working at AAGE since June 2014 and is now a teaching assistant in the PYP 1/2 class. Elizabeth studied at the University of Kent in Canterbury and graduated with a joint honours degree in English and American Literature and English Language.
Ms Amanda Dufke is originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Primary Education and has been teaching Early Years for 11 years both in international and private schools. Amanda has been with AAGE since she moved to Denmark in January 2014, and is excited to teach the PYP 2A - Dinosaur Class this academic year.
Emilie is originally from Sweden but has lived and worked in Spain and South Africa. She relocated to Aarhus in August 2014 with her husband and son. She has a Master of Arts in Education and has several years experience of teaching the IB Curriculum. Emilie is the Homeroom teacher in PYP 3.
Sam has worked for the school for over two years, starting off working with ASA he is now the PYP teaching assistant. Sam holds a Bachelor degree in Global Health and Nutrition. Originally from the North West of England he has now lived in Denmark for nine years with his Danish girlfriend and two children. Prior to moving to Denmark Sam has spent time working in the French Alpes for a large travel firm.
Nicola is originally from South Africa, but has lived, studied and worked extensively around the world. She holds a B.A. degree in History, English Literature and History of Art and is a certified Montessori Directress (ages 3-9 years). She has worked as an Early Years educator in the UK and China, and has taught at the primary level (6-9 years) in the United States and Thailand. Nicola joined AAGE in 2011. She is the PYP 4a teacher.
Mythreyi is from India and moved to Denmark in the summer of 2017. She has a degree in Commerce and a Post Graduate Diploma in IT management. Subsequently she studied Early Childhood Education and in addition received a Certificate in teaching children with learning disabilities. Prior to moving to Denmark, she worked as a Kindergarten and primary grade (6 to 8) teacher for 6 years in India. She has lived in Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan and Copenhagen and enjoys music, books and travel.
Becky is originally from the UK and moved to Denmark in 2001. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and History as well as a postgraduate qualification in journalism. She has two children with her Danish husband and has experience of teaching English as a foreign language to children and adults. Becky has previously worked at AAGE writing the school's newsletter.
Laura is an American who has recently relocated to Denmark from Pennsylvania. Laura holds a B.A. degree in English and a Master’s in Elementary Education from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania. She also holds a certificate for teaching ESL (English as a Second Language). She has worked as a kindergarten teacher in Arlington, Virginia for three years and in Ashburn, Virginia for one year.
Alison (Alli) is from the South of England and has been living in Denmark since August 2017. Alli has a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Exeter and completed her PGCE (also from Exeter University) 6 years ago. Alli taught Years 2 – 6 in Bournemouth, and now teaches PYP5 at AAGE. In her spare time Alli likes baking, exploring and socialising with friends.
Cree is from New York City in the US. She has a BA in English Literature from Binghamton University and a M.Ed from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA where she specialised in Special Education. Cree has been teaching at international schools since 2006. At AAGE she is the homeroom teacher for PYP 6 and starting from January 2019 Cree will be the Inclusion Teacher for PYP1 through to MYP5.
Elaine is originally from Scotland and has a B.Ed. (Hons) in Primary Teaching from Moray House in Edinburgh. She taught for 13 years there, before moving to Malaysia to become one of the pioneer teachers to help open and establish a new school. After four years in Malaysia, she left to teach in Japan. She will join AAGE as the PYP6A homeroom teacher.
Colleen is originally from western Canada, and since 2006, she has been living and teaching in Hong Kong, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Switzerland and now Aarhus. She has a Bachelor of Education from the University of Victoria and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Royal Roads University. She moved to Denmark with her husband and two children in the summer of 2018. In her spare time she enjoys music, traveling, camping, and bike riding.
Eddie is in his 4th year at AAGE, teaching from PYP 5 to PYP 7 in that time period. He has a Master's in Journalism from Griffith University in Queensland, Australia and has his teaching certificate from the University of Nottingham in England. His Undergraduate Degree was earned from Ursinus College in Pennsylvania. Eddie lives in Denmark with his wife, Iben and 2 daughter's He is a certified personal trainer and movement specialist. Eddie enjoys travelling, watching baseball and NFL football.
Jonathan Bettger is Canadian and has a teacher’s degree from the University of Toronto. He has worked as a teacher in Canada, South Korea and has taught in Denmark since 2003. At AAGE, Jonathan works as homeroom teacher for the PYP 8 class in the subjects of Literacy, Math and Unit of Inquiry. Jon's experience includes the International Baccalaureate and the International Primary and Cambridge curriculums. In addition to his experience with core subjects, his teaching background also includes Physical Education, Music and English as an additional language.
Holly is an experienced and broadly qualified Physical and Health Education Teacher. Graduating from Loughborough University in 2005 with a first class degree in Sports Science, Holly trained as a teacher in London, England, and continued working in the city for a further seven years as a PHE teacher and Head of Department. Now in Denmark Holly plays a key role in promoting sports and physical activity throughout Aarhus, as the Middle Years Programme PHE teacher at AAGE. She also is a fitness instructor with Stay Active, and an active member of Kralupy Football Club and Aarhus Crossfit. This academic year Holly is also the homeroom teacher for MYP 1. In her free time Holly has a passion for urban planning, and advocates walking and cycling and other other forms of active transport through volunteering and campaigning.
Kelly is originally from the UK and moved to Denmark in 2008. She has a Master's in Astrophysics from Cardiff University and qualified as a teacher from Swansea University in 2004. She has many years of experience of teaching science in schools in the UK, a Danish folkeskole and here at AAGE.
Charlotte has a degree in Geography and a PGCE from the Institution of Education, London. She worked in an English Secondary School before coming to AAGE. At AAGE, Charlotte teaches Individuals and Societies to all MYP classes. She is the MYP 3 Homeroom teacher, oversees the MYP Projects and is the Action and Service Coordinator.
Elizabeth is a certified secondary teacher from the United States, who holds a B.A. in English Language and Literature and a minor in Dance. Elizabeth worked in arts management in the Washington, D.C. area before earning her M.A.T in Secondary English Education in 2015. Before coming to AAGE, Elizabeth taught for several years at a private, IB World School near Baltimore, MD. At AAGE, Elizabeth teaches English A, and is also the MYP 4 Homeroom Teacher.
Gene Aidam comes to us from London with a Bachelor's degree in French and Management Studies. He has taught French in London for 11 years where he was Head of Languages in two consecutive schools. Gene is passionate about teaching and is always looking for new ways to make language learning exciting and relevant for young people.
Sidsel has a teaching degree/Bachelor of Education from VIA University College. She has previously worked six years in a public school in Aarhus and one year in a small Danish school in Uganda. Sidsel is qualified to teach Danish, Visual Arts and Music and at AAGE she teaches Danish A and B.
Ditte has a Bachelor’s Degree in teaching from VIA University College in Aarhus with Danish and English as main subjects. She has teaching experience from working in a public school and in a boarding school in Denmark. Working with children and adolescents has always been a passion of hers, and throughout the years she has been doing a lot of different volunteer work in Denmark and abroad. At AAGE Ditte teaches Danish in PYP and MYP.
Britt is from Denmark and she has a Bachelor’s Degree of teaching from VIA University College in Silkeborg. Britt has previously taught English, German and social studies for 6 years in a public school close to Aarhus. Britt also has teaching experience from an IB school in Poznan, Poland, where she for 3,5 years taught Danish as a mother tongue.
Fabienne has a Master's degree in Theatre - Film and Media Science. She was educated in Germany and Wales. For four years Fabienne has given theatre workshops for children and teenagers from all over the world and of different ages. She has directed different theatre pieces with children and has also acted for children herself. At AAGE she is teaching MYP German and Drama
James is from Kent, England and holds a BA in Film, Radio & Television from Canterbury Christ Church University; he has worked with children from nursery to secondary level and with young adults at Danish Højskole level. As a singer-songwriter he has written more than twenty albums and made more with his bands. James has worked as an actor, photographer, and music performer and plays football, reads and writes in his spare time.
Tom is originally from the Isle of Wight, England and holds a bachelor's degree in Strength and Condition Science and Master's degree in Kinesiology. Tom has 10 years experience working in primary schools as a sports coach and after-school instructor. Tom has also been a professional long distance runner competing for Great Britain.
Faith is a native of Sri-Lanka, and has lived in Denmark for 20 years. She holds a Certificate of Teachers Education from the University College Nordjylland, Denmark. She has 30 years of teaching experience. Her background consists of international experience from working with and in many different cultures, such as in Sri-Lanka, India, Canada, Germany and Denmark
Gael specialised in Arts, English and Danish for her Teachers Education at the University College of Aarhus. She has experience working within Visual Arts in both Denmark and her home country New Zealand. Gael is the Visual Arts teacher for MYP students at AAGE. She also teaches EAL.
Jon has a first class degree in Statistics and Mathematics and a PGCE in Mathematics, both gained in the United Kingdom. He has experience both in the British and Danish state school systems, having taught in London for the first eight years of his career and then in Fredericia for the following twelve. One of the highlights of his time in Denmark was to teach a lesson in front of the Queen during her 2008 visit to Fredericia.
Bircan is from Istanbul, Turkey and landed in Denmark in 2011. She has a bachelor in Mathematics that she complemented with a master's degree in Science Studies at Aarhus University. In October 2017, she started at AAGE as an ASA Instructor. She is passionate about visual storytelling and when she is not at school, she is picking children's content for a culture and film festival and planning film screening events."
I am an Aarhus native, but spent time abroad in the USA with my husband, Eddie, before returning to Aarhus to earn my Bachelor’s degree in teaching. My subjects are Danish, English as a foreign language for both primary and secondary students, and special needs education. Now in my second year at AAGE, I will be teaching Danish B and special needs students. I am currently covering for Megan as school counselor, while she is on maternity leave. I enjoy reading and spending time with my family
